For me, impulsive shopping is a thing of the past. I now take my time to figure out what I really need. Can you imagine that I even go as far as having wishlists!? A list of things that I want and believe it or not, I usually end up being able to purchase most of the items on that list. Now how long does it take to get it all? That’s another story! I’m still a huge shopper, but I find myself buying more pieces that I actually wear as opposed to owning pieces and finding myself giving them away before even wearing them. Remember the old saying “patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet”? Well, I now know what it means.
“There’s no need to travel to Africa to buy authentic African fashion”
So, as I was saying, wishlists are now something that I practice! Being a huge lover of African fashion, I decided to share my African clothes and accessories whishlist with you today. As you all know, there’s no need to travel to Africa to buy authentic African fashion. Over the past few years it’s become way easier to purchase it online with the increasing number of stores dedicated to African culture. It is still quite expensive most of the time (let’s be honest!) but we can’t complain because at least, it’s available. So I’m sharing with you 8 clothes and accessories that I can’t wait to call mine.
Ever since I saw Makena (played by Marie Humbert) in Ghanaian series An African City wearing this bib, I’ve been dreaming about it. In my opinion, Christie Brown is one of the best African designers. She creates pieces for the contemporary African woman who still feels close to her tradition.
Remember the infinity dress that I recently did a post about? Well, here’s the African print version of it. It can be worn whichever way you choose and comes in a maxi or a short dress.
Anansi, the luxury handbag brand, blew me away with their designs and colors. This clutch, perfect for the contemporary woman looking for something different, combines a soft luxury leather with a very colorful watercolor linen. The result is impressive.
Myth House is one of my personal favorites. I just love the boldness of their designs. These bags are showstoppers and I can’t wait to put my hands on one of them!
A pair of earrings representing traditional African combs is all I need to complement my collection of statement, loud earrings that I love so much.
What a great way to incorporate a bit of African print into your outfit! This patchwork infinity scarf has black and white checkered or denim backings. it is reversible so you choose!
Perfection! These super elegant, contemporary shoes stole my heart. No comments needed, just daydreaming.
Ankara swimsuits are unique and unexpected. I’ve been wanting to get one for a few months now and even though more and more designers are creating them now, I think I’ll go with this one from Parisian brand Ayanah. They ship internationaly.
