Sometimes you just feel like having the simplest style on earth. The no-hassle, super-comfortable, I-can-wear-it-with-no-help kind of style. This maxi dress is perfect for those days.
This dress and many others in this style made with different fabrics were brought to me from Côte d’Ivoire and are actually up for grabs! They’re only $25 CAD each. The designer is my husband’s cousin! She’s a brilliant girl with an eye for fashion. She just draws, as it comes to her, and has her designs come to life with the help of the experienced tailors that work in her tailoring shop in Abidjan.
The bracelet though is from Montreal. A good friend of mine who recently created her jewelry line, N’Asse Creations, makes beautiful, modern bracelets, necklaces and earrings using traditional Akan goldweights that she orders from Côte d’Ivoire.
The Akan tribes, from West Africa (Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana), used to weigh gold dust – the currency at the time – using those goldweights. Nowadays, they’re used more on traditional outfits, jewelry and home decor items. N’Asse Creations tells stories with every pieces of jewelry and we love the chic look and refinement of each one of them.
