Chimamanda ngozi adichie dior spring 2017
Don’t we all love this woman? Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Nigerian writer, feminist, activist and now…fashion icon. She was the inspiration behind Dior’s ready-to-wear spring 2017 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s first female creative director decided to make a statement about feminism with this collection and for that, she used one of Adichie’s phrases as the focal point of her presentation. Two of her models were sent out wearing a white t-shirt that read: “we should all be feminists”, a sentence that was actually the title of Adichie’s iconic TEDxEuston’s 2013 speech.
As reported by the Washington Post, Chiuri said: “I strive to be attentive and open to the world and to create fashion that resembles the women of today”.
Adichie watched the show, sitting on the front row, next to celebrities like Pierre Cardin. She was looking beautiful in her black and white Fia Factory long-sleeved dress ornamented with Ankara patchwork pockets. She finished her look with a pair of green and magenta shoes.
