From June 27th to July 2nd 2017, the Dakar Fashion Week was celebrating its 15 years. It’s been 15 years now since Adama Paris, African fahion guru, had the “crazy” idea of creating a fashion week in Dakar (Senegal), placing that city as a major fashion capital alongside Lagos in Nigeria and Johannesburg in South Africa.
Adama Paris, who is also a designer and the creator of Montreal and Paris Black Fashion weeks, doesn’t take “no” for an answer. She is a visionary who has always seen the Dakar Fashion Week become a major fashion platform in Africa.
That fashion week has seen number of models, photographers, designers and other professionals of the industry thrive and express their creativity and get known. This years, for that special anniversary, a number of VIP’s have attended and made appearences like Diana Opoti, African fashion influencer, and Claire Sulmers, creator of popular blog Fashionbombdaily.

ELIE KUAME
Designers like Élie Kuame (Côte d’Ivoire/Liban), Soraya da Piedade (Angola) or Tina Lobondi (Congo) were present, but also very talented and less known designers like Mariah Bocou (Mali) and Rama Diaw (Senegal)
